Russell Romanella

Russell Romanella is currently acting director of the International Space Station/Payload Processing Directorate at NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Florida. He joined NASA in 1981 as a co-op student while attending Florida State University. In his current position, he is responsible for plans, processes, and operating philosophies of the International Space Station and Shuttle payloads ground operations. Mr. Romanella has been involved with all ISS elements launched from KSC, including the US Laboratory, robotic arm, airlock, and large solar arrays which are now on orbit and supporting the permanent station crew. He has received numerous achievement and performance awards, including NASA's Exceptional Service Medal and the Center Director Award in 2001 for his management and leadership efforts in preparing Space Station elements for launch at the Kennedy Space Center.
