Pavel Ivanovich Belyayev; Lieutenant Colonel, Red Naval Air Force; born June 26, 1925, Vologda region; died January 10, 1970 from complications following an operation for stomach ulcers; was married, two children. Attended the Air Force Academy, and became a cosmonaut in 1960. He was the command pilot of Voskhod 2.
