Pavel Romanovich Popovich; Colonel, Red Air Force; born October 5, 1930, Uzin, Kiev Oblast; married, two children. Graduated from an industrial technician (1951), a military aviation school (1954), Zhukovskiy Air Force Engineering Academy (1968) and became a cosmonaut in 1960. He was the pilot of Vostok 4 and commander of Soyuz 14. He has written an autobiographical book, "Takeoff in the Morning".
