A galaxy six times larger than any previously known in the universe had been discovered by an international team of astronomers using The Netherlands' Westerbork radio telescope, the Washington Post reported. Named 3C 268, the galaxy was 18 million light years in length and 1.8 billion light years from the earth. It was composed of an optical galaxy-a group of stars emitting visible light-at the center, with enormous gaseous radio components spreading like giant propeller blades on either side.
