A NASA official announced that Mark Showalter, at the Ames Research Center in California, had discovered another moon orbiting Jupiter. He found it while doing analysis of images taken in 1980-1981 by Voyager 2. The smallest of the planet's known satellites was dubbed 1981 S 13. An Ariane rocket carrying both a French and a German TV satellite was successfully launched from French Guiana. The rocket was identical to the one that exploded shortly after liftoff last February 22. (W Post, Jul 25/90; WSJ, Jul 25/90)
