NASA announced that California Institute of Technology would continue to manage and operate NASA's JPL under a new five-year contract valued at US$6.25 billion. The contract would support such programs as the Mars Global Surveyor robotic exploration program; the Cassini mission to Saturn; NASA Origins Program missions, including the Space Infrared Telescope Facility; Earth-Observing spacecraft; and the Deep Space Network of communications antennas.
