Matthew W. Urlaub was manager of the Saturn IC stage in the Saturn Program Office at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. Born September 23, 1927 in Brooklyn, he was a graduate of Duke University where he earned his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. Urlaub entered the army in 1950 and finished his tour of duty in 1955. During the period of 1952-1953 he completed a one year course at the Ordnance Guided Missile School at Redstone Arsenal. Upon becoming a civilian he became a member of the Army Ballistic Missile Agency’s Industrial Division Staff at Redstone Arsenal. Specifically, he was the ABMA senior resident engineer for the Jupiter Program at Chrysler Corporation in Detroit. He transferred to MSFC in 1961. The field in which he specialized was project engineering/ management.
