First Annual Symposium on Space Travel takes place at the Hayden Planetarium in New York. Speakers were:
- Dr Albert Park - Director Museum of Natural History
- Robert R. Coles - Chairman Hayden Planetarium
- Willy Ley - Author "Thirty Years of Space Travel Research"
- Robert P. Havilland - Engineer Project Hermes (GE) "Engineering and Application of the Satellite Vehicle"
- Dr. Fred L. Whipple - Chairman Department of Astronomy Harvard University "The Upper Atmosphere and Empty Space"
- Heinz Haber M.D. - Dept of Space Medicine USAF School of Aviation Medicine, Randolph Field TX "Space Medicine"
