First launching of Bell Rascal XGAM-63 air-to-surface strategic missile. The Nordwestdeutsche Gesellschaft für Weltraumforschung run by Hans Kaiser in Eider Germany formally merges with the larger and more successful Gesellschaft für Weltraumforschung in Stuttgart, bringing an end to inter-societal rivalry in post-war German astronautical groups.
