Dr. Albert Boggess was awarded the Herschel Medal, by the Council of the Royal Astronomical Society of the United Kingdom, for his contribution to the success of the international ultraviolet explorer (IUE). The IUE satellite was designated to study Comet Halley's evolution as it approached and receded from the Sun. Boggess was named co-recipient of the award with University of London Professor R. Wilson. (NASA Release 86-28)
