The Manchester Evening News reports "Three Hit at Rocket Contest". A rocket exploded and sent metal fragments into the crowd at a Manchester Interplanetary Society rocket launch gathering in Clayton Vale. Injured was Herbert Snelson of Clayton who was taken to hospital with a leg injury from a metal fragment. Mr M.G.E. Wade, secretary of the society was also slightly injured as was a "cinematograph photographer". Police intervened and further launches were cancelled. Apparently no rocket reached more than 10 feet altitude.
