Personal Data

Born 23 September 1977 in Yershichi, Smolensk Region, Russia. Married to Olga Anatolievna Misurkina. They have two children. His parents, Lyudmila Georgievna and Alexander Mikhailovich Misurkin, reside in Oryol, Russia. Badminton, basketball, downhill skiing, carting.

Education

Graduated from vocational school # 1 in Oryol in 1994 and entered the Kacha High Air Force Pilot School, where he studied to September 1998. From September 1998 he continued pilot training at the Armavir Military Aviation Institute, which he graduated from in October 1999 with a gold medal as a pilot-engineer.

Experience

Following graduation from October 1999 to October 2006 he served as a pilot-instructor and air flight commander of the 627th Guards Pilot Training Regiment at the Krasnodar Military Aviation Institute. By the time of selection to Cosmonaut Corps he logged a total of 1060 flight hours of piloting the L-39 training aircraft. He is a 1st class pilot-instructor, parachute instructor and military scuba diver.

Spaceflight Experience

RSA EXPERIENCE: In October 2006 at the Interdepartmental Board meeting for selecting cosmonauts he was approved as a cosmonaut candidate and enlisted to the GCTC Cosmonaut Corps. From February 2007 to June 2009 he took the basic training at GCTC, which he completed on 2 June 2009 with excellent scores. On 9 June 2009 at the Interdepartmental Qualification Board (MBKK) meeting he was qualified as a test-cosmonaut. From August 2009 to February 2011 he took the advanced training specializing in the ISS program. From January 2011 he trained as the ISS-33/34 and Soyuz TMA-M backup crew flight engineer.

Special Honours

"For Military Valour", 2nd Class Medal and "For Distinguished Military Service", 2nd and 3rd Class Medals of the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense.
