CONTRACT RELEASE: C12-014 NASA AWARDS ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES SUPPORT CONTRACT
WASHINGTON -- NASA has awarded a contract to Science Systems and Applications, Inc., of Lanham, Md., to provide atmospheric-sciences support services. This is a cost-plus fixed-fee indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract with a maximum ordering value of $103 million. The period of performance, including the phase-in period, is from April 1, 2012, through April 30, 2017. This is a follow-on contract and a small business set-aside acquisition. The contractor will support projects that encompass all aspects of design, development, testing, maintaining, calibrating and operating suborbital instruments for atmospheric and solar observations. Additional support will be provided to aid the implementation, formulation and operation of satellite missions and the preparation of research proposals, publications and manuscripts. The contract also will support computing and software engineering efforts for NASA-funded researchers using high-end computing resources. The work will be performed at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md., on behalf of the Earth Science Division at NASA Headquarters, Washington

WASHINGTON -- NASA Deputy Administrator Lori Garver will speak to the Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church, Va., on Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. EDT. The event is part of the USA Science and Engineering Festival's Nifty Fifty (times 2) Program. The Nifty Fifty program sends more than 100 top scientists and engineers into Washington-area schools before the festival to inspire middle and high school students' passion for science and engineering. Bolden will update the audience on the latest NASA initiatives and the agency's Fiscal Year 2013 budget request. The event will be held in the Congressional Room of the Capital Hilton at 16th and K streets NW in Washington.
