Captain CAF Marc Fricker
Captain Fricker joined the Canadian Forces as an aircraft technician at 19 and spent six years repairing aircraft avionics systems. He attended the Royal Military College, receiving his commission and a bachelor's degree in computer engineering in 2000. In 2002 he received a master's degree in robotic engineering from RMC. Upon completing aerospace officer training he was promoted to captain and assigned to the Canadian Space Agency as a robotics instructor on the International Space Station (ISS). He now trains astronauts, cosmonauts, and flight controllers on how Canada's robotic systems function on board the ISS. He looks forward to working on the training material for the Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator—Dextre for short—in order to prepare the team to operate Dextre when it is launched in 2008. Once he completes his term at the Canadian Space Agency, he intends to continue his career in the Canadian Forces as an aerospace engineer.
