JPL reported the selection of Martin Marietta Aerospace for negotiations on study of spacecraft suitable for a Venus radar-mapping mission. Hughes Aircraft, which also submitted a proposal, had been selected in November 1981 as the radar-instrument study contractor for the mission. (NASA Release 82-26)
