Astronaut Robert F. Overmyer announced that he planned to leave NASA, on June 1, and retire from the Marine Corps. His past accomplishments include piloting the November 1982 Columbia mission and serving as commander of the April 1985 Challenger flight. Colonel Overmyer joined NASA in September 1969.
