NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) selected the Bendix Field Engineering Corporation, in Columbia, Maryland, for negotiations on a contract for continuation of maintenance and operations of the NASA Deep Space Network (DSN). The DSN provides tracking and data acquisition for planetary space flight missions and for NASA's crew-tended and untended space programs. The five-year contract, with an option for an additional five years, was expected to begin April 2, 1987. (NASA Release 87-9)
