The fifth and final short-duration solid rocket motor Nozzle Joint Environment Simulator (NJES) firing test was carried out. The overall objective of the test, part of the Space Shuttle solid rocket motor redesign program, was to evaluate the fail-safe performance of the redesigned case-to-nozzle joint with verified defects.
