NASA announced that it had tested helicopter rotor performance in icing conditions. The tests were performed in the Icing Research Tunnel at NASA's Lewis Research Center, Cleveland, Ohio. The new experimental data-base resulting from these tests was to be used to further refine and validate a computer code that predicts helicopter rotor performance loss occurring when ice accumulates on the rotors during an icing encounter.
