In the three years since NASA began funding a group consisting of five leading origin-of-life researchers and their 20 students at four separate institutions, they have published a bevy of high-profile papers and thrown fuel on a number of long-smoldering debates. The group believes that while science may not unravel the exact origin of life, it is constantly moving toward a plausible explanation of it. (Science, Dec 22/95)
