Abstract

The atmosphere of Jupiter and the surfaces of the large satellites, including Europa, have been under study by instruments on board the NASA Galileo orbiter since it arrived at Jupiter in December 1995. This paper discusses some of the results to date, with emphasis on those which may be relevant to any possible exobiological activity in the Jovian System.
