Aleksey Aleksandrovich Gubarev; Lieutenant Colonel, Red Air Force; born 1932, Kuibyshev, on the Volga. Graduated from the naval air force school, Gagarin Air Force Academy, and joined the cosmonaut corps in 1963. He was commander of Soyuz 17/ Salyut 4.
