Dirk Terell, Ph.D.

Dirk Terrell holds a Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Florida and his research covers the field of stellar astrophysics, primarily interacting binary stars. Comfortable with both theoretical and observational astrophysics, he has written computer codes to model gas flows in binary stars and has built and operates robotic observatories. He interacts daily with amateur astronomers around the world who observe binary stars, pulsating stars and asteroids. He is currently the computer and mission systems section manager at Southwest Research Institute's department of spaces studies. He lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife Najah, dogs Jupiter and Simba, and cat Snowball.
