Kurt C. Volkhart drives the first of Max Valier's and Fritz von Opel's rocket cars at Russelsheim in Germany. Two powder rockets were used. A 50mm 80kg and a 90mm 18kg engine. The combined thrust moved the car about 150m in 35 seconds before burning out. A second test employed two rockets with a combined thrust of 300kg. Volkhart got the car up to 30km/h before igniting the rockets. In less than two seconds the car increased to 75km/h.
