Aeronautics Branch of Department of Commerce created Board to determine original causes of aircraft accidents.

Willy Ley's book The Possibility of Space Navigationis published in Germany. The book includes contributions by Hermann Oberth, Walter Hohmann, Karl Debus, W. Sander, and Guido von Pirquet.

The Octopus Cycle a science fiction story by American Interplanetary Society founder Fletcher Pratt appears in Hugo Gernsback's Amazing Stories magazine.
