Contact with French laser reflector on board U.S.S.R.'s Lunokhod I resting on lunar surface was made by Soviet Academy of Sciences' Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. Ground-based equipment sent signals to moon and recorded "clearly reflected signals," Tass reported. (SBD, 12/11/70, 170; Sov Rpt; 12/30/70)
