Tiros II completed first year in orbit, still transmitting cloud-cover photographs of usable quality, although it has been expected to have a useful lifetime of only 3 months. Tiros II had completed 5,354 orbits, and had transmitted over 36,000 photographs.
National Aeronautic Association notified Mrs. Constance Wolf, of Blue Bell, Pa., that her Texas-to-Oklahoma balloon flight of 40 hours 13 minutes, 363.99 miles and 13,000-foot altitude established 15 women's world records.
