October 10-13: Offshore Airport Center Planning Conference was held by AIAA and City of New York at Harriman, N.Y., to identify problems and determine feasibility of offshore airport construction in metropolitan New York area. Conference recommended major multifaceted study to develop data for environmental impact report and comprehensive study to determine economic significance of commercial aviation to New York City and penalty of not providing adequate facilities to meet projected aviation demands.
