The U.S.S.R. launched Molniya II--11 from Plesetsk into orbit with a 40 630-km apogee, 656-km perigee, 12-hr 16.8-min period, and 62.9° inclination. The comsat would help provide long-distance tele-phone and telegraph radio communications and transmit U.S.S.R. TV programs to stations of the Orbita network.
