LaRC announced that NASA had selected Rockwell International to study alternate thermal-protection systems for the Shuttle orbiter [see April 1]. The nine-month study beginning in late June would cost about $900,000. Boeing Aerospace also bid on the study. (LaRC Release 80-43; NASA Release 80-77)
