President Reagan issued a proclamation calling on the nation to observe the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's 25th anniversary with "appropriate ceremonies and activities." Reviewing the agency's history and accomplishments, including preeminence of U.S. civil and military aviation, the Apollo program, planetary exploration, and the Space Shuttle, the message stated "The future looks bright, and NASA will be an important part of it."
