National Academy of Engineering announced election of 44 U.S. engineers to membership. Included were Dr. John S. Foster, Jr. Director of Defense Research and Engineering, honored for "technological leadership in defense research and engineering," and Edward Wenk, Jr, Executive Secretary of National Council on Marine Resources and Engineering Development, for "major contributions to the design of military submarines and other underwater equipment."
