ESA announced the successful launch of its Ariane LO1 at 17 hours, 14 minutes, 38 seconds GMT from Kourou; all three stages functioned normally and the fairing was jettisoned as planned. Achieved orbit was close to planned orbit. Space center facilities and all downrange stations functioned "faultlessly" and permitted continuous tracking of launcher telemetry. (ESA Info Bltn 41)
