At Carswell Air Force Base, Tex., USAF Boeing B-50, Lucky Lady II, with Capt. James Gallagher as pilot, completed the first nonstop, round-the-world flight in history, having covered 23,452 miles in 94 hours 1 minute, and having been refueled in the air over the Azores, Arabia, the Philippines, and Hawaii.
