PIONEER IV reached first aphelion (estimated 107,051,000 miles) in its orbit around the sun at 8 p.m., e.s.t. Since launch on March 3, PIONEER IV was tracked by JPL's Goldstone tracking station to 407,000 miles from earth.
The Canadian Astronautical Society displays the CHARM missile at the Canadian National Exhibition. This low-cost research missile was begun by the society in late 1957 by Arthur E. Maine. The Canadian Astronautical Society Project CHARM, Globe and Mail
