NASA had another successful launch; a 25-year-old rebuilt Atlas-E rocket, a one-time ICBM, carried a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration weather satellite, NOAA-10, into orbit from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. NOAA Director Larry Heacock said that the polar orbiting satellite would render "half of our satellite program restored to full working capability."
