Alexander Strahan, publisher in Edinburgh, Scotland, begins publishing Good Words a magazine of essays, which included A Journey Through Space by William Leitch .

William Leitch writes to Queen's College in Kingston to ask the best method of shipping his library of "600-700 volumes" from Scotland to Canada. The library included many works of science and astronomy, including Newton and Laplace.
The London Spectator newspaper runs an advert for God's Glory In The Heavens by William Leitch . The advert is premature and says the book is to be published by Strahan of Edinburgh and to be titled ''God's Glory In The Heavens; or something of the Wonders of Astronomy''. The reference to astronomy is later removed from the title of the book before publication.
