Perry Rhodan is the lead character in the German space opera book series begun in 1961 by Karl Herbert Scheer and Walter Ernsting. Rhodan is an American astronaut who leads the first expedition to the moon in 1971. The books inspired George Lucas when he came to make Star Wars and became the biggest selling book series of all time with over two billion books sold.
