Kennedy Space Center had awarded a $1 228 000 contract to Seelye Stevenson Value and Knecht, Inc., for the design of an orbiter processing facility and modifications to the Vehicle Assembly Building to support assembly and integrated checkout of the space shuttle, KSC announced. VAB modifications would include redesigning high bays 3 and 4 to accommodate complete shuttles and widening the north door to permit orbiter entry. The design work was to be completed within 30 days of notice of the award. (KSC Release 77-74)
