Javelin four-stage sounding rocket reached an altitude of 600 miles from Wallops Station.

Navy 173-foot-diameter balloon launched from USS Valley Forge east of Puerto Rico, carrying 1,630-pound payload to record cosmic ray and secondary particles. Payload film packs were recovered the next day by the destroyer Hyman.
