Intel Corporation agreed to grant NASA, the U.S. Department of Energy, Sandia National Laboratory, and the U.S. Armed Forces a royalty-free license to adapt the Pentium chip to withstand extreme radiation, so that other agencies could use it in spacecraft and military equipment.
