NASA'S M2-F3 lifting body, piloted by William H. Dana, reached 14 300-m (47 000-ft) altitude and mach 0.8 during 17th flight from Flight Research Center. Objectives-to expand flight envelope and obtain stability and control data at mach 0.95-were not achieved because two of four chambers failed to ignite. (NASA proj off)
