AP reported that Space Shuttle Columbia was bolted atop a jumbo jet and flown from Cape Canaveral to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, before proceeding on August 11 to Rockwell International's Shuttle assembly plant in Palmdale, California. The arrival of Columbia in Palmdale on August 13 was greeted enthusiastically by the inhabitants. (AP, Aug 10/91; Antelope Valley, Aug 14/91)
